The Switzerland-based organization runs its startup competition in 65 emerging markets identified as having the best seed-stage startups. It gives them pitch training and awards the winners with an opportunity to compete in the main Seedstars Summit in Lausanne in april 2018, where one competitor will be crowned Seedstars World Global Winner and earn an investment of up to $ 1 million.
“Seedstars World is a platform linking investors with the next generation of entrepreneurs. This year’s Prague competition is very important to us as we know about the expansion and dynamism of the Czech startup ecosystem and we are now looking forward to getting more involved with the local scene,” says Katarina Szulenyi, COO of Seedstars World.
The Prague edition has ČSOB as main partner and is being organized with the support of Coworking Space Krizovatka, Microsoft and CzechStartups.org. The international jury will be formed by: Leonid Igolnik, Silicon Valley Angel Investor; Guillaume Fournier, Partner of Credo Ventures; Philip Staehelin, Managing Partner at Roland Berger; Martin Pěchouček, Director of Segments and Development at ČSOB; Evgeny Frolov, Coworking Crossing Director and Startup Accelerator; and Daria Golikov, Seedstars World Ambassador for Central Europe.
In order to participate, companies need to have a maturity level of two years, a maximum acquired capital of $ 500,000 and a continuing business plan. Regional and global scalability is also another important aspect evaluated in the competition, as Seedstars World is looking for clever startups that address regional issues and develop successful products for the global market.
“ČSOB has been supporting the startup scene for several years in the Czech Republic. We are pleased to be a partner of this year’s Seedstars Prague. Thanks to that, we have the opportunity to be at the birth of successful young companies, which we will be able to help in the future in the field of consultancy and financing for their further development,” says Martin Pěchouček, Director of Segments and Development of ČSOB.
